Great Artesian Basin

The Great Artesian Basin (GAB) is one of the largest underground water sources in the world and Australia's largest groundwater basin, located mainly in Queensland, Australia. Most of the GAB’s reliable freshwater resources are located in inland Australia.

About 65% of the Basin – 1,203,920km2 – lies within Queensland and provides to over 80 Queensland communities.

The GAB contains a vast volume of underground water (estimated at 64,900 million megalitres) and is the largest groundwater basin in Australia
